Few Introductory Words

OK, so let me start with few words of confession.

I’ve read the Twilight saga and I didn’t have an immediate need to think of something different to kill the evoked emotions. I watched the film first and didn’t really understand what’s going on. Guy is sparkling, so what? It’s completely irrational as all vampire stuff. BUT vampires are not supposed to sparkle as well as to say “uh oh”. It’s that we’ve learned that all vampires are Dracula-like and that means no going outside unless you want to be sunburned to death :]

And now we’ve got the veggie Edward and his veggie family, whole world is thrilled, amused and loves vampires. Why??
I asked such question to a group of teens I had lesson with. What did I hear? Girls told me they’ve watched “Twilight” and then read the books. I must admit I’ve done it in the same manner, however, I did that to investigate the sparkling phenomenon. It’s not the vampires they were interested in. It was Edward, Edward’s love, Edward’s dedication and Edward’s doings against the vampire tradition. I don’t understand that but it resembles the Romeo & Juliet theme.

So, if I’m not that into the sparkling phenomenon named Edward why vampires?the truth is behind the sparkling
I’m Team Eric member <3 but I’m into other books, films and TV series as well.

May the bite be with u

  1. I divide vampires into crap vampires and true vampires ;) Those first are made up for teens and housewives who want to read about biting lovers (or normal people who wanna have fun :D ). The latter are more traditional, really *uncanny*, and they evoke strong emotions which surely may be based on mixture of eroticism and fascination with biting, but at least those creatures are not funny, but serious characters. And I hope that they are not extinct species!

    Hugs&bites!

    • OK, so do you think that the whole ‘True Blood’ thing is a crap or true vampire category? How about ‘Vampire Diaries’?
      v–v

  2. VD = crap, but nice to read when you’re tired after cleaning your house :P
TB is okay & tru: ;] Maybe Bill is a little bit “edwardish” and too romantic for a normal guy to make me believe that such male entity could exist in the real life ;D But look at other vampires, how brutal they are, how strong is the line between humans and vamps, how dehumanized they are. So not only the age, immortality, and fangs distinguish them from ‘normal’ people, but also the attitude towards humans, brutal personality, immorality, peculiar ways of entertaining. It seems to me that they have realistic features which would really develop in them, if they existed. There is the psychological layer here. Imagine yourself being immortal, strong, ruling, drinking blood. I bet you would finally start to behave like vampires in TB.
And coming back to VD, I think that here Damon is quite close to the “true” vampire model. He’s not one of those sweet guys with fangs who find themselves wanting to propose to the woman who will finally turn into wrinkled disgusting witch when he will still be 22. Impossible from logical point of view. The more impossible when we talk about men :P It could probably work the other way round ;)

    • VD is uncanny high school crap, but they’ve got Damon (http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0160631/) ^^ who is convincing as a fog as well as a raven. Hmm, he’d even make a good Poe’s raven.

So, one of the conclusions is that people would watch the crappiest of crap because of cute lads :) and that is why actors have to be so gorgeous looking.

  3. “he’d even make a good Poe’s raven.” – you mean dorodny kruk of course :D
Yes, cute lads are certainly motivating when we try to watch crap. :]

  4. The adjective ‘dorodny’ for me can only be associated with turkey and Thanksgiving ^^
I don’t get Polish translators :p but maybe that’s the point.

Well, cute lads are the American film strategy, British actors have to cope with it.

  5. I can think of one more noun which can be linked with the word dorodny. It is almost a collocation, but I don’t wanna be pervert :D
British actors usually look like cooked (pink or pale skin) freckled humans XD
